Japan PM Suga reportedly throws support behind Kono to succeed him

Incumbent Japan vaccine minister, Taro Kono, is odds on to take over the helm from Suga and at this point it may seem to be more of a formality.
The LDP leadership election will reach its conclusion on 29 September with the prime minister post announcement to take place on 4 October.
